Summer Support Your Parks at Pillsbury State Park

A little rain in the forecast—and even a club deep-sea fishing trip happening the same day—wasn’t enough to keep GSARA members away from Pillsbury State Park for the Summer 2026 POTA Support Your Parks Weekend.

The group activated Pillsbury State Park, US-2673, and put plenty of radio gear to work. Contacts were made at 40, 20, 15, and 10 meters, as well as 2, 70, and 33 centimeters, using CW, SSB, FM, and FT8. It was a great mix of operating styles, antennas, radios, and plenty of good conversation around the park.

Tim, Kim, and Chris deserve extra recognition for teaming up and putting some serious effort into making CW contacts. Greg and Dave earned the unofficial Early Bird Award for getting the day started, while Keith surprised absolutely no one by activating another park before arriving at Pillsbury for his second activation of the day.

Most importantly, it was another fun day of getting outside, playing radio, and spending time with fellow club members.
