How long have you been a Ham?

I have been a ham since 2011, prior to that I used various radios from satellite to vehicle mounted in my 20 years in the Signal Corps (US Army).

What mode(s) within Amateur Radio do you enjoy operating?

My favorite part of ham radio is the community. You all are a wonderful group of people—some of you are casual operators, while others are more intense. Each person is interesting in their own way. I find all modes of communication fascinating, but my favorite is voice communication; I really enjoy the rag chews. I consider myself a casual ham, if that’s even a term. I have other hobbies, too, such as shooting sports, motorcycles, and cool cars and trucks. Additionally, I’m a member of the local historical society here in Deerfield.

Describe your involvement with GSARA.

I enjoy the connection with the hams IN GSARA, being with people of like minds and the quick-witted comments that make one laugh.

What is one piece of advice you would give a new Ham?

It does not matter what you do in ham radio, what matters is that you're having fun!!!

Is there anything else you would like to share?
