How long have you been a Ham?

I have been a ham since 1973.

What mode(s) within Amateur Radio do you enjoy operating?

I'd like to learn wifi by radio. I would also like to learn a little more about fusion. It is so easy. Press the fusion button, and you are in Fusion mode.

Describe your involvement with GSARA.

I became a member about a year ago. I have since obtained a 7-year membership. I had heard for a while from a few hams that this was a good club, active and social. I like to do events. I like that people have gotten me up to speed on some things pretty quickly.

What is one piece of advice you would give a new Ham?

When you get your tech license, do not wait too long to get your General License or you may get "stuck".

Is there anything else you would like to share?

In an earlier career, I was a liaison between the Nashua PD and the Bush (senior VP then) security detail. I met an FBI special agent in charge, and he saw I was drooling at the Communications van. I told him my interest in getting more into public safety radio and doing consulting. He got my business started up with many connections he had. We were good friends for many years until his passing. I enjoy my side job consulting with a large city police agency.
